Omid Scobie’s career started off as a celebrity reporter, a job he really didn’t like, before quickly moving up the ranks and becoming one of the most talked-about royal correspondents and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s favoured journalist. Now 42 years old, Scobie grew up in Oxford and is the eldest of two brothers. After studying journalism at the London College of Communication, he landed a role at Heat magazine, but left after just 11 months due to a toxic work environment. After that, he joined entertainment magazine US Weekly, where his interest in the royals began to blossom. He is now on the cusp of releasing his second royal book, “Endgame,” following his biography of the Sussexes, “Finding Freedom.” He is also a royal contributor at ABC News and regularly appears on “Good Morning America.” In 2012, he started a K-Pop entertainment news website called IdolWow!, though it was later shut down. It was around 2016 that Scobie’s relationship with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry began to draw him towards their story, despite having no prior interest in royalty. He wrote a fawning biography of the couple, titled “Finding Freedom,” with fellow journalist Carolyn Durand. He has been candid about the difficulties of breaking into the royal press pack, but has since become known as a “cheerleader-in-chief” for the Sussexes.
