Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 15) – K-pop idols Taemin of SHINee, Hyoyeon of Girls’ Generation, and Yugyeom of Got7 delivered Filo stans an unforgettable night of magic at ‘K-Magic Live!’ on Friday.
As early as 4 p.m., three hours before the concert, hundreds of Shawols, SONEs, and Aghases were already lined up and in high spirits, despite heavy downpour. For many of them, this was their first time ever seeing their biases live.
One such fan was Filipino showbiz megastar and diehard Shawol Sharon Cuneta who finally got to meet Taemin, dubbed the “idol’s idol,” at the star’s first solo artist performance on Philippine soil.
The megastar posted a picture of herself sitting on the floor, head tucked between her legs, clearly emotional at having met her longtime bias.
“You are so nice and humble and more handsome in person!” Cuneta wrote, after meeting Taemin. “Like I promised, I will always pray for you!”
Two concertgoers, Jericho and Paulline, told CNN Philippines that they have been dedicated followers of Taemin and Yugyeom for at least half a decade. For Paulline, K-Magic Live! was her first in-person glimpse of Yugyeom after listening to his music for nine years.
Emerald, also a Shawol, has been a hardcore Taemin stan since 2013. The concert was her first time seeing the artist ever, as she missed his first appearance in the Philippines when he performed alongside SHINee in 2017.
Another pair of friends, Camille and Cyra – representing the Aghases and SONEs – were hyped to witness Yugyeom and Hyoyeon for the first time, as well.
When the idols finally kicked off their separate performances, the delighted screams of fans nearly drowned out all of the music, while the ambient glow of lightsticks turned the crowd into a sea of gently swaying stars.
SONEs couldn’t get enough of Hyoyeon – affectionately known as Hyo – who performed some of her most iconic dance-anthems including ‘Photo,’ ‘Deep,’ ‘Second,’ and ‘Dessert.’
At one point, Hyo asked her fans where she can visit in the Philippines.
SONES yelled: “Sa bahay namin [our homes]!” eliciting guffaws from the Girls’ Generation staple.
