MANILA, Philippines — Denise Laurel may not be gracing TV shows these days as a regular cast member, but those who have been to a number of fan meets and events featuring K-pop stars are familiar with the actress.

Denise is among those who have been tapped to host the fan meet of visiting Korean stars. The latest she did was the one with EXO’s Chanyeol last October 1 in Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. The K-pop star met his fans courtesy of his endorsement, Ever Bilena. He is the first male ambassador of the beauty brand.

“That’s an honor. I’m super thankful. I work really, really hard, and yeah, sobrang thankful ko that I get to do that,” Denise said to Philstar.com.

The actress was among the guests at last Monday’s Cebu Pacific event that launched its new campaign Juander Far and Wide and revealed its ongoing 10.10 seat sale that offers seats for as low as P88.

“It’s really also my love letter to the Philippines, to represent the Philippines when dealing with foreign artists and I represent the best possible way as I can,” she added.

Her relation to Korean entertainment was even before fan meets became popular in the country.

Denise was tapped to sing the theme song of the Tagalog-dubbed Korean drama “Shining Inheritance” (or sometimes known as “Brilliant Legacy”) in 2009 aired on GMA-7. She sang the show’s theme song “I Will Take You Forever” with Kris Lawrence.

She uploaded their updated cover version of the song on her YouTube channel last year. It currently has 12 million views.

Would she be willing to sing the popular song now that GMA-7 is going to make an adaptation of the Korean drama?

“If they would have me, I would love to. The newer version that Kris Lawrence and I recently released just hit more than 12 million views on my channel, and hopefully, they get us to do the song again,” she said.

GMA announced last September that it is going to do an adaptation of the hit 2009 K-drama about a rich girl who lost her wealth after the sudden death of her father. Trying to live the best she can sans her old life, she struggles to cope with surmounting problems after meeting a spoiled brat heir to a food conglomerate. The K-drama stars Lee Seung-gi, Moon Chae-won and Han Hyo-joo.

The upcoming Philippine adaptation will star Kate Valdez, Michael Sager, Paul Salas and Kyline Alcantara.
