IVE, the rising girl group in the K-pop industry, showcased their talent and stage presence during their first world tour, “Show What I Have,” held at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa District, Seoul. The two-day concert marked a significant milestone for IVE, as they debuted just under two years ago on December 1, 2021, with their first single, “Eleven.” Comprised of six members: An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo, IVE aims to prove their artistic growth and captivate audiences worldwide.
During a press conference before the concert, member Yujin addressed the skepticism surrounding their ability to deliver something new, stating that “Show What I Have” is their response to those doubts. She expressed confidence in their ability to showcase more of their potential, emphasizing that IVE still has much to offer.
Prior to the concert, the atmosphere at the venue was buzzing with excited IVE fans. Some participated in on-site events, others exchanged merchandise and trading cards, while some explored the girl group’s official server on Discord. One American fan named Hunter, donning an orange dinosaur onesie, eagerly anticipated the concert and commended the timing of IVE’s world tour, mentioning the group’s successful releases and fans’ long-awaited opportunity to see them live.
The Sunday concert began with a rearranged version of “I AM,” the lead track from IVE’s first full-length album, “I’ve IVE.” Gaeul expressed that the group had prepared never-before-seen performances and new renditions of existing ones. She emphasized that “Show What I Have” would reveal fresh sides of IVE.
Throughout the two-and-a-half-hour concert, IVE presented various facets of their artistry. They showcased their familiar girl-crush concept through rearranged performances of “Love Dive” and “After Like,” while also introducing the audience to “Cherish,” a song performed for the first time. Notably, the members incorporated a unique dance move during “Cherish” where they held a selfie stick on stage and livestreamed their performance on the big screens.
Undoubtedly, the “unit” stages became the highlight of the show. Divided into three duos, IVE members unleashed their charisma through dynamic performances. Gaeul and Rei opted for a chic look in leather jackets and delivered captivating renditions of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings,” Lee Hi and Crush’s “H.S.K.T.,” and Crush’s “Rush Hour.” Wonyoung and Liz, on the other hand, donned matching yellow dresses and transported the audience to a cinematic atmosphere with their rendition of Richard Sanderson’s “Reality” from the 1980 film “La Boum.”
Yujin and Leeseo took the stage alongside special guest Lee Young-ji for a powerful performance of Little Mix’s “Woman Like Me.” Yujin revealed that she had personally invited Lee to join them, highlighting their connection from their appearance on the variety show “Earth Arcade.” Leeseo expressed her desire to showcase a charismatic side of herself to the audience.
IVE also treated fans to snippets of their upcoming first EP, “I’ve Mine,” which is set to be released on Friday. They performed “Either Way” and “Off The Record,” two of the three lead tracks from the album, along with the B-side track “OTT,” written by Wonyoung. The concert offered a preview of another lead track, “Baddie,” through a short video clip.
During a press conference, the group explained that “I’ve Mine” aimed to showcase different facets of IVE rather than confining them to a single style. Thus, they chose to employ an unconventional three-lead-track setup. Wonyoung stated that “I’ve Mine” is a story about themselves, connecting back to their previous albums while presenting a fresh side of IVE.
Throughout their career, IVE has been consistent in spreading messages of positivity and self-affirmation through their music. This positivity embodies the essence of IVE and distinguishes them from other groups in K-pop, according to Wonyoung. She expressed their goal of successfully completing the world tour and believed that further achievements would naturally follow. The group intends to plan their future endeavors based on their world tour experience.
Following the Seoul concerts, IVE will commence their album promotions for “I’ve Mine” on Friday. Their world tour will take them to 27 cities in 19 different nations, including Japan, various Asian countries, North and South America, and Europe.
Throughout the event, IVE demonstrated their growth and talent, captivating the audience with their dynamic performances.
