“VIP, ONCE,” According To Fans, here are the Best K-Pop Fandom Names

by Idol Univ

Whether it’s K-pop, or anything else, fandom names are always so fun because they represent our identity as a fan. Especially when the names have a special meaning, it shows that they put in a lot of thought of making it meaningful for both the fans and the artists (or they were just lucky to have a very creative staff member!).

Without being biased, here are some of the best fandom names in K-Pop, according to fans!

Big Bang – VIP

Even if you’re not a fan of the group, you’d agree that VIP is one of the best fandom names in K-Pop. The feeling and ring of calling yourself a “VIP” sounds very fancy. I mean, not all of us can call ourselves VIPs on a daily basis, can we? You’re pretty special if you stan these K-Pop legends.

NCT – NCTzen

This was smart because NCT sounds like “N-CITY,” and so, if you’re a fan, you become a ‘citizen’ of the fandom, hence becoming NCTzen. With how many members this group has, “NCT Nation” was certainly an intelligent name for a concert.

BTOB – Melody

If you didn’t know, BTOB stands for “Born to Beat,” and you need a melody to create music, and BTOB needs melody for their music. Isn’t that just sweet?

EVERGLOW – Forever

It’s so simple that they took the “Ever” in EVERGLOW to get “Forever,” but the way they used it is just too sweet; “Everglow forever, let’s go!” and “Everglow, Forever, let’s go!”

TWICE – ONCE

ONCE & TWICE – can be read as first and second. For TWICE, fans are the most important; hence they are the first, but the fans give the group twice the love.

Stray Kids – STAY

The whole concept behind the group’s name, the fandom name, and their slogan is just too beautiful. To the 8 kids who are Strays, their fans make them STAY, and so their catchphrase: You Make Stray Kids Stay. No other group has anything close to that. Even their latest lightstick follows through that, where their first version had a spinning compass, while the second version had the compass fixed, as if saying they don’t need the compass anymore, as they have found their home that is their fans.

NU’EST – LOVE

This one is one of the most creative ones yet! You might wonder what does the name NU’EST have anything to do with LOVE? Is it just a cliche way of saying they love their fans? Nope. It’s because the name NU’EST, when spelled in Hangeul is 뉴이스트, and when you remove all the vowels, the consonants would be “ㄴㅇㅅㅌ” which resemble the English word “love”.

Dreamcatcher – InSomnia

If you’re familiar with the item ‘dreamcatcher,’ it’s usually used to prevent nightmares, and nightmares are often the reason why we’re unable to sleep, hence causing insomnia. Just like how these girls are, they wish to provide music for their fans that provide comfort and happiness.

SEVENTEEN – Carat

This group is known for being in that ‘diamond life,’  and so their fans being ‘Carat’ is not only a cute name, but also a very smart and precious one! Since the name Carat is close to the word ‘carrot,’ fans sometimes associate themselves with cute carrot drawings too!

INFINITE – Inspirit

The fandom name might be a made-up word, but it’s very meaningful. The word “Inspirit” basically combines INFINITE’s ‘in’ and the word ‘spirit’ to convey the meaning of both fans and idols will be with each other in spirit, despite wherever they are.
