New Kids on the Block is giving a K-pop update to a past track. On Friday (September 1), the hit ’80s boy band unleashed their collaboration with three members of superstar K-pop boy band SEVENTEEN – Dino, DK and Joshua – on a reimagined version of NKOTB’s “Dirty Dancing” that’s been dubbed “Dirty Dancing (Dem Jointz Remix).”

The original version of “Dirty Dancing” is a hip-hop-infused bop written by NKOTB’s Donnie Wahlberg, hit producer RedOne and Joaquin Bynum about a man cheating on his partner with a woman he’s intoxicated by at a club. The new version with the SEVENTEEN bandmates sounds a bit more polished, the eight singers joining in harmony on steamy lyrics, Oooh, It’s so crazy/She’s like, “Baby, I’m like Swayze”/I said, “Oooh, and I’m burning up”/So, let’s turn it up, I said turn it up now/She’s dirty dirty dancing/Dirty dancing on me.

“Dirty Dancing” was originally released in 2008 as the third single off NKOTB’s album, The Block. The album also contained the hit “Summertime” which was their first single since “Never Let You Go” in 1994. “Summertime” reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking their first time achieving the feat since 1992 with “If You Go Away.” The Block was the band’s first album since Face the Music in 1994 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
The updated rendition of “Dirty Dancing” will be featured on NKOTB’s 15th-anniversary edition of The Block that’s out on November 3. “Blockheads!!!! We’re excited to finally announce OFFICIALLY… The Block Revisited!” the band shares on Instagram. “A special 15th anniversary edition of The Block featuring bonus material, never-released fan favorite song ‘Coming Home,’ new remixes & more!”
NKOTB debuted in 1986 and is known for such hits as “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Hangin’ Tough” “Step by Step” and “Cover Girl.”
