  • The band’s schedule has now been adjusted ahead of the festival and other appearances.

Three members of the K-pop band Stray Kids were recently involved in a minor car accident, according to a statement by JYP Entertainment, the group’s label.

The accident occurred on Wednesday while the members were heading to their dormitories.

“The vehicle carrying Stray Kids members Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin was involved in a minor collision,” the statement said.

This comes ahead of their performance at the Global Citizen Festival, taking place 23 September 2023 in New York City. The band’s upcoming schedule has since been modified, with the group’s hip-hop spin-off 3RACHA performing at the festival instead of the entire group.

3RACHA consists of Stray Kids members Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. In total, Stray Kids has eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N.

“After the minor collision, Lee Know, Hyunjin and Seungmin immediately visited a hospital and received a thorough medical examination.”

None of the Stray Kids members or the accompanying staff were seriously injured, but they sustained bruises and mild muscle pain.

“Medical professionals have advised that they receive conservative treatment for the time being,” the statement added.

Lee Know and Hyunjin’s appearances at the Milan Fashion Week and Seungmin’s Birthday YouTube Live have also been cancelled.

“We apologise for causing fans to worry with such sudden news. JYPE will place the artist’s health as the highest priority and will provide everything we can to support their recovery. Thank you,”  the JYP Entertainment statement said.

The Global Citizen X page (formerly known as Twitter) also confirmed the group’s modified performance. “Our support goes out to the members of Stray Kids and our hearts are with Stays everywhere,” they posted.

Global Citizen is an international education and advocacy organization that focuses on issues like poverty and justice.

They organise an annual music festival, and this year, it will feature acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lauryn Hill, Conan Gray, D-Nice, Sofia Carson and Jungkook from BTS.
