According to FNC Entertainment’s official statement, Rowoon has taken an exit from K-pop group SF9. Rowoon’s departure from SF9 was officially announced by FNC Entertainment on September 18, 2023; the group will now consist of 8 members. He won’t be a part of the group, but he will be remembered as the ninth member, according to the company’s official statement.
Rowoon made his idol debut with SF9 in 2016. Since 2017, he has grown his acting career by starring in several Korean dramas.
FNC Entertainment’s Statement
FNC Entertainment shared a statement saying, “Hello, this is FNC Entertainment. We’re writing to notify you of SF9’s activities. SF9’s contract with us came to an end on September 18th, after being promoted as our artist for 7 years since the group’s debut in 2016. All members renewed their contracts with us, however, the group will be starting fresh as an 8-member group except for Rowoon. Rowoon will be focusing on his projects including acting. All members will do their best for their fans although they have decided to head in different directions. We ask for your continued support for SF9 and Rowoon. Thank you.”
Rowoon Posted A Handwritten Letter on SF9’s Official Fan Cafe
Rowoon announced his exit from SF9 through the group’s official fan cafe. He said that going forward, he wouldn’t be a part of the group. The actor-singer said that he was afraid to write the letter because he thought he might face criticism for his choice. He said, however, that he was acting bravely and would take responsibility for his choice.

Rowoon apologised sincerely and publicly expressed his feelings of regret to his fans. He confessed the hesitation he had about writing the letter after a long absence from the activity. Rowoon discussed the difficulties of clearing up misunderstandings and expressed his wish that as he engaged himself in his profession, his true intentions would eventually become clear.

About SF9
SF9 is a South Korean (Things To Do In South Korea) boy band formed by FNC Entertainment. They debuted on October 5, 2016. The group originally consisted of nine members Youngbin, Inseong, Dawon, Zuho, Jaeyoon, Yoo Taeyang, Hwiyoung, Chani, and Rowoon. Rowoon left the group on September 18, 2023.
Rowoon is currently starring in ‘Destined With You‘, and he will be next seen in ‘Wedding Match’.
