K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY has taken the top spot on TikTok‘s Global Popular Music Chart for 2023 with their hit, “Cupid.” This announcement was made at TikTok’s “What’s Next 2024 Trend Report Conference” in Jung-gu, Seoul, on December 7.
The group’s success extends beyond digital platforms, as “Cupid” has reached the Top 10 in 19 countries around the world. Other K-pop powerhouses such as BTS, BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans have also made their mark on international charts.
Despite facing challenges, FIFTY FIFTY has quickly risen to stardom since their debut in 2022. Their resilience was evident when Keena, representing the band, appeared at the Billboard Music Awards. Although lineup changes may be on the horizon, the group remains determined.
One of FIFTY FIFTY’s greatest achievements is the success of “Cupid,” which went from debuting at No. 100 to peaking at No. 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Within just four months of their debut, they became the fastest K-pop band to enter the Hot 100.
Yoo Kyung-chul, the general manager of TikTok Artists & Label Partnership, predicts that the global influence of K-pop will continue to grow in the coming year. He highlights the prevalence of K-pop challenges on TikTok as a key element that resonates with the platform’s community.
What sets FIFTY FIFTY apart is their song “Cupid – Twin Ver – Sped Up Version,” which has generated 20 million creations on TikTok, making it the standout hit of 2023. As TikTok’s year-end report outlines the Top 10 songs of the year worldwide, FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid” is a testament to the power of their music.
