NewJeans, a 4th-generation, 5-member rookie girl group under South Korean entertainment juggernaut Hybe Label’s new subsidiary ADOR (All Doors One Room), entered the industry just a year ago in July 2022. Since then, it has been making new records and enchanting ‘Bunnies’ (official fandom name) with its fresh take on pop music with lyrics that evoke nostalgia. Now, Apple Music’s Global Year-End Chart data reveals New Jeans emerging as a winner among all other Kpop acts as its 2022 single ‘Ditto’, ranked at 19.

NewJeans surpassed Supergroup BTS’ youngest member Jungkook’s first solo single ‘Seven’ featuring American rapper Latto as it ranked at 48. It has become the first Kpop act to place three of its songs in the ‘Top 100’ list of Top Global Songs List released by Apple Music. NewJeans’ other singles in the ‘Top 100’ list include, ‘OMG’ at 37 and ‘Hype Boy’ at 64. It also topped the Apple Music Top Songs 2023 list of Korea acquiring the top three positions with ‘Ditto’, ‘OMG’, and ‘Hype Boy’, respectively.

The girl group is the brainchild of ADOR CEO Min Hee-Jin who was earlier the Chief Brand Officer under Hybe Corporation. In less than a year, the group consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, has achieved a lot of popularity among fans with their relatable music. One of the members, Danielle in an interview with Time magazine said, “We’re always trying to create a fresh vibe,” highlighting their unique style in several aspects, be it their music videos, choreography, or lyrics. The group name which has the words ‘new’ and ‘jeans’ suggests the evergreen vibe of denim that speaks of its motto to become a fresh and lasting voice in the industry. NewJeans is worth the hype and it has got a lot of its fans’ attention for the right reasons.
