YG Entertainment’s new girl group BabyMonster gained the highest number of views on YouTube in 24 hours for a K-pop group’s debut music video, according to its agency Tuesday.
The music video for “Batter Up” surpassed 22.59 million views within the first day of its release on YouTube on Monday, the same day the group released the debut single.
It also topped the music video charts on international streaming music platforms such as Japan’s Line Music and China’s QQ Music.
BabyMonster is a six-member girl group and the first new girl group from YG Entertainment in seven years since Blackpink. The six members are Ruka, Chiquita, Rami, Pharita, Rora and Asa.
The members were first shown on YG Entertainment’s YouTube series “Last Evaluation.”
BabyMonster was previously slated to debut as a seven-member group with an additional artist, Ahyeon. However, YG Entertainment announced that Ahyeon had withdrawn from the group due to health issues on Nov. 15.
The agency confirmed the group’s six members on Thursday.
