BABYMONSTER, YG’s Newest Girl Group, Makes Debut with “Batter Up”

YG Entertainment‘s hotly-anticipated new girl group, BABYMONSTER, has officially made its debut with a new track, dubbed “Batter Up.”

The six-member group is the first girl group to launch under the K-pop label since BLACKPINK in 2016. With big shoes to fill, BABYMONSTER boasts a multinational identity, with Korean members Haram and Rora, Thai members Chiquita and Pharita, and Japanese members Ruk and Asa.

In a statement, the group said, “We are happy to welcome this day that we’ve dreamed of for a long time. We will do our best to show our unique musical colors.” Notably, prior to BABYMONSTER’s debut, fans were able to witness the group’s journey through an evaluation process on YouTube, with episodes that released over several months.

The group also teased that there’s some new work on the way, adding, “We are also preparing diverse content and events for our fans who have waited for our debut, so please look forward to them.”

At the time of writing, BABYMONSTER’s debut has already achieved wild success, accumulating more than 23 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours. Check out the music video for BABYMONSTER’s debut track, “Batter Up,” for yourself, above.
