BTS star Jimin has made history by winning the King of K-pop award at the 2023 Melon Music Awards.

The prestigious South Korean award ceremony is set to take place on December 2 at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, Yeonjongdo.

Jimin is the first soloist to achieve the esteemed King of K-pop title. In addition, his fellow BTS members Jungkook and V (Taehyung) have also triumphed in the Giant Pop Star and Idol Of The Year categories. This accomplishment comes before the upcoming mandatory military enlistment for the widely popular K-pop group.

On November 17, the Melon Music Awards revealed its Top 10 artists based on user voting, with the entire BTS group and soloist Jungkook making the list. Furthermore, Jimin has been nominated for Album of the Year, while multiple other BTS members have received nominations for the esteemed MMA. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the award show.

Following the significant victory of Jimin, Jungkook, and V, the BTS ARMY flooded social media with congratulations. A fan shared on X (formerly Twitter), “The plaque for winning the ‘THE KING OF KPOP AWARD’ in MMA 2023 Event has arrived & will be delivered to JM! CONGRATULATIONS JIMIN! This is Jimin’s 2nd ‘FAN GIVEN AWARD’ for 2 years in a row! Special thanks to ALL TEAM JIMIN for presenting this Award to our beloved JIMINIE.”
