Following in the footsteps of renowned acts like BTS and SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids is set to receive the esteemed Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2023 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards, solidifying their place in K-pop history.
This prestigious recognition is a significant honour for the group, as they join an elite group of K-pop artists who have received this award. The annual Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards, organsed by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, aim to acknowledge and celebrate individuals and groups from various artistic fields, including actors, singers, comedians, and other personalities, who have made remarkable contributions to promoting South Korea’s culture and arts on the global stage.
Stray Kids, known for their hit ‘MANIAC,’ recently garnered international acclaim when they were featured in TIME Magazine’s 2023 edition as next-generation leaders, highlighting their rising prominence in the global music scene.
The Prime Minister’s Commendation, a special award at the ceremony, has been presented to only six K-pop groups before Stray Kids. These prestigious recipients include Girls’ Generation, 2NE1, JYJ, SHINee, EXO, and SEVENTEEN. Stray Kids will proudly become the seventh group to receive this distinguished recognition, marking a significant achievement for a 4th-generation K-pop group, having debuted in 2018.
