During a 2018 performance in Pyongyang, North Koreans secretly expressed their admiration for K-pop star Ailee’s music, despite the strict laws in the DPRK regarding South Korean media consumption.
Ailee, a Korean American singer, was part of former President Moon Jae-in’s delegation for a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in September 2018. She reportedly performed during a dinner banquet on the first day.
