It’s official. Jennie Kim’s solo era is happening, and fans will get a first taste of it very soon. Speculation about Jennie going her own way has been around for some time, furthered by rumors that she wouldn’t be renewing her BLACKPINK contract alongside her first acting role in HBO’s The Idol, and now — the artist has confirmed that she’s working on her own music in a new interview.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar Korea, the K-pop star confirmed that she’s set to release a new project imminently. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, Jennie told Harper’s, “I’m making a song that’s by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique that is only Jennie’s.”
The new track will mark Jennie’s first solo release since November 2018, when she debuted “Solo.” Since then, Jennie’s only revealed solo music once, when she performed “You & Me (Moonlight)” during the group’s Born Pink tour in 2022. Earlier this year, Jennie also collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on “One Of The Girls,” a track created for The Idol.
At present, nothing about the BLACKPINK contracts has been confirmed, so stay tuned for more information coming soon.
