Since her debut as a soloist in 2021, BLACKPINK’s LISA has been carving her name in music history, setting records on global musical platforms. She was praised by critics since the Thai artist sought from day 1 to challenge herself in this project of her life and show the world the confidence she had in her abilities musical skills by competing against artists from the Pop field.
Her song “MONEY” is without a doubt one of the biggest K-pop hits released this decade. It has now become the first song by a K-Pop Soloist to surpass one billion views on Spotify. It’s also the first debut song by a Kpop Act and the First K-Pop B-side that achieved this milestone.
Additionally, LISA just joined Adele, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Gayle, Olivia Rodrigo, and SZA as the only artists to reach 1 Billion views with a solo song released in 2021. Money is now in competition against “Woman” by Doja Cat for the title of the most streamed rap song by a female solo artist of all time on Spotify (1.3 Billion streams).
Despite everything she achieved on her own, many netizens today continue to wonder what would have happened if YG Entertainment had made the decision to release full remixes from the first day of the release of “Money” to exponentially boost the song as it is a common practice lately in K-pop. Unfortunately, the question will remain unresolved since 2 years have already passed, and there was no official remixes released by Lisa.
Congratulations to BLACKPINK’s LISA!
